Joliet , Ill. , Aug 1, 2007 - Pamela J. McGuire today announced her candidacy for a fourth term as Will County Circuit Clerk. McGuire emphasized her twelve-year record of accomplishments, strong leadership, fiscal accountability and providing efficient, effective service to the community.
“I look forward to the chance to re-apply for my job every four years,” McGuire said. “The campaign is a job interview with the voters of Will County and it lets me to report on what I have been doing on their behalf, my vision for the future and why I am the best person for this job.”
McGuire noted the praise her entire office has garnered as a result of the technologically advanced services it provides in order to meet the needs of the people in Will County .
E-Pay, an online billing system that allows users to pay for “ No Appearance” traffic tickets by using most major credit cards as well as debit Master Card cards, with plans to expand the program in the future to include on line pleas for “no appearance” traffic case. Just one of many examples implemented under McGuire to shorten waiting times and make the Circuit Clerk's Office more user-friendly. “In addition to the E-Pay expansion,” McGuire said, “the office expects to unveil public access terminals within the clerk's office to allow individuals the ability to pay court-related matters after their court visits. Also In the future is “e-File” a pilot project for the filing and viewing of court documents from the users own computer.
As an acknowledged leader in implementing innovative information technology, McGuire served as President of the Illinois Association of Court Clerks (IACC) in 2003-2004 and continues to serve on the Association's Legislative Committee. McGuire also currently serves on the State of Illinois Integrated Justice Information System (IIJIS) Implementation Board and is the Co-Chair of the Outreach Committee for IIJIS.
“I clearly recognize the pressing need for data sharing between key users,” McGuire said. “With our county growing as rapidly as it is, it is critical to have continuity in the implementation of the integrated justice system, which will act as the bedrock foundation to our local homeland security. In plain language she said our entire court system and law enforcement need to be able to exchange vital information effectively in real time.
“As justifiably proud as we all are of the tremendous growth of Will County , it carries with it inevitable growing pains and the daily challenge of judicial case loads that grow faster than revenues.
“We need to face the people every four years and be able to say we have done more than talk about it — we have done the job that needs to be done, just as we will in the future. “
